"Series of elongated landscapes created with a camera adapted to expose whole film in one shot" from New Perspectives on Photography
HIS PROCESS:
"The final image is the result of an optical-photographic process that differences from the way the eyes and mind perceive the reality.
This is attained by the particular way that the slit camera works, This type of camera moves the films at a constant speed while the shutter is open printing a couple of stereoscopic images in 2 different films.
In this way I possible to obtain an image as long as the film used creating a 3 dimensional representation of the whole surrounding space, or annul the central perspective keeping a 3 dimensional view.
For that the camera is operated in many different ways: It might be mounted on a tripod using the automatic rotation system for more than 1800 degrees images (as in Shibuya 1916-1937).
Or, fixed on a tripod synchronizing the speed of the film with the speed of the subjects that moves in front of the camera (as in Mind Your Step) Or, mounted on cars, boats, trains (and Tuktuks!) synchronizing the speed of the film with the speed of the mean of transportation (as in 500 Yen, Odaiba#1).
The images are presented on their original medium (slides film of 120 or 220 format) mounted in a lightbox where the 2 slides are combined by means of a one way mirror.
The tri-dimensional effect is produced by filtering the slides with polarizing filters and the use of polarized glasses."
HOW WILL I PRESENT THE WORK?
CAN I CONSTRUCT A SIMILAR DEVICE?
