.The Motorway.

.230:MILES.   .   from the start to the end of the      M6      .

In 2010 I drove the length of Britian's longest motorway and oldest. Beginning near Rugby and ending near Carlisle the motorway meanders through cities, disrupts landscapes and edges coastlines. It forms part of the 'backbone' of Britain and has dramatically altered our ability to commute throughout the UK. Joe Moran describes roads and their surroundings as  "the most commonly viewed and least contemplated landscape in Britain" mine is an investigation into seeking contemplation within these habitual environments.
